Canvas Print

Canvas Print

The Limited Edition Canvas Print is our premiere product. We release only a limited number of each painting hand-signed by the artist on high quality premire art canvas.   This canvas is the highest grade canvas available on the market. The total limited edition quantity is noted below each of paintings price table.  Edition sizes range from 25 – 250, depending on the piece.  Along with your order you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity which will state the number of your print within the limited edition run, e.g. 99 out of 100.  Once an edition limit is met, these highly collectible prints will no longer be available as artist signed canvas prints. You can still purchase the painting on our premium quality canvas, however it will not be hand signed.

Additional Canvas details:  Giclee fine art prints on canvas are set apart from any other print type because the combination of this specialty printer and the canvas substrate can produce all the subtle color variations of an original. Each canvas is printed by the artist in his studio to ensure the quality of the print. Numbers 1 and 2 of most artist signed prints have typically sold for over $2000 at auction. Kanwar Singh has exhibited at the prestigious Sikh Heritage Awards Gala in New York City, the Toronto Spinning Wheel Film Festival, Sikh Centennial Gala and the Sikh Arts and Film Festival in Los Angeles, California.

Choosing a print size

When choosing a print size, please consider that a frame will add an additional 3 inches to all sides. For example, a 23” x 38” canvas print with a typical 3 inch thick frame will result in a final framed print that will occupy 29”x44” area of wall space.

Gallery Wrap

A cost effective 'frameless' option for hanging canvas prints. Gallery wrap is a method of hanging a canvas print so that the canvas wraps around the sides of a basic wood frame composed of 4 interconnected stretcher bars. The canvas is secured to the back of this frame with hardware (staples or tacks) leaving the sides of the frame clean and highly presentable.

A typical gallery stretch frame is usually 1.25 inches thick so we sell all canvas prints with an additional 1.5 inch black border which falls on the sides of the frame to enhance the clean, finished look on the sides. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting and costs considerably less than ornate wood frames.

Important note

Ask your framer to use rounded or smooth edged stretcher bars with a gallery wrap since tightly wrapping the canvas around a hard edge may cause cracks in the coloring of the canvas where it is folded.

Finish

A non reflective high grade natural cotton canvas coated with a UV and scratch resistant material producing a gentle Satin finish.

Giclee

Giclee denotes a state-of-the-art printmaking process using high resolution digital scans, archival inks, and pH neutral fine art paper. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto canvas and water color paper with an image quality so high that the print looks like the artist’s original. Giclee prints are considered the gold standard of the art print industry.

  • Very high-quality reproduction
  • Superb colour matching
  • Look and feel of original artwork
  • Perfectly reproduces subtle tones and graduations lost in standard print processes
  • Light fast – won’t fade or discolour

The Process

Giclee prints are created using professional 8-Color to 12-Color ink-jet printers. These specialty printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints for both the fine art and photographic markets.

The Quality

The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.

The Market

Numerous examples of giclee prints can be found in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries. Recent auctions of giclee prints have fetched $10,800 for Annie Leibovitz, $9,600 for Chuck Close, and $22,800 for Wolfgang Tillmans (April 23/24 2004, Photographs, New York, Phillips de Pury & Company).

Framing

We do not offer a framing service for the art work we sell. The main reasons are the added costs and risk of damage when sending frames via the postal service. We recommend that you seek an experienced framer in your area. Price ranges can vary a great deal so it is always advisable to get more than one quote whenever possible. Generally you should expect to pay a third of the print cost for a good quality 3 inch wood frame. Canvas prints generally cost less to frame than paper prints since they are stretched and will not need to be placed behind glass.
